The cafe’s cozy, picturesque decorations put the young girl at ease. The wooden paneling and fireplace crackling to the left of the eatery gave it a ‘cabin in winter’ atmosphere. I guess not much has changed, she chuckled to herself, glancing at all the different desserts displayed on the cashier’s counters; lemon cakes, cinnamon rolls oozing with syrup, strawberry truffles with powdered sugar snow on top. Gates suggested we prepare to fight a virus as we would prepare for war, by strengthening our health systems, creating medical corps, and pairing medical and military. Now, as we are facing the COVID-19 pandemic, countries with weaker hea

Why Individualism is Failing Us in the COVID-19 Pandemic

Many people have never experienced in their lifetime a pandemic the scale of COVID-19, where our way of life has changed dramatically in response. We are required to self-quarantine and maintain social distancing, while prevented from going about our everyday lives. This pandemic has also exposed a questionable side to humanity. Throughout the world, people are panic-buying items like hand sanitizers, toilet paper, and surgical masks to the point that shelves are completely e

Winning from a Distance: 4 Ways to Curb Boredom for Free

Coronavirus lockdown is boring. Life has stalled, and you can’t go out as you used to, to malls, movies, restaurants, and more. You are stuck in your room with nothing to do and would love to have something to entertain you. Is there a way you can treat yourself in this situation for free? Certainly! Here are a few resources that you can use. For some of these resources (as indicated), you might need to install the Georgetown SFSQ off-campus VPN, and the instructions to enabl
